FTTC or “Fibre To The Cabinet” as it is otherwise known, is a next-generation replacement for traditional ADSL broadband services. By connecting fibre to the street cabinet and only relying on copper infrastructure for the last mile, we can offer a high-grade business product without the high-grade price.
How does it work?
Traditional ADSL services use old copper and aluminium cable from your telephone exchange through your local cabinet and on to your premises, with FTTC, fibre optic cables replace the old copper line that runs from the telephone exchange to the cabinet, leaving only the last few metres from the cabinet to your premises as copper. Since most of the connection is now fibre you can get huge download and upload speeds and a much more resilient connection.
